Guest Cast

  • Table read was on July 20, 2015.
  • Filming began August 17, 2015.[4]
  • William Shatner sent out numerous live-tweets about the show during the second season's debut broadcast.
  • The episode title is a reference to the site TVByTheNumbers's mascot, the Cancellation Bear, which regularly predicts the cancellations and renewals for all primetime network TV shows. The Cancellation Bear was certain that the show would be cancelled during its first Season.[5] The episode itself further pokes fun at the Cancellation Bear, as one of the Enchanted Forest patrons happens to be called "the Bear." The lyrics to "Off With His Shirt" include the line "tossing him to the Bear." Galavant later states "thank you for not feeding us to the Bear", referring to how the Cancellation Bear is known for "devouring" cancelled TV shows, and how the show escaped its predicted cancellation.
  • John Stamos was unable to return to the UK because he was committed to the Fox series "Grandfathered," so he shot his cameo in front of a green screen.[6][7]
  • When Australian pop star Kylie Minogue was booked on the show, Joshua Sasse (Galavant) was completely undaunted because he didn't know who she was.[8] She asked him out on the set, the pair began a whirlwind romance, and he went on to costar in her music video for "Every Day's Like Christmas,"[9] which debuted a month before this episode premiered. The couple split in february 2017.
  • The Enchanted Forest and the Queen are references to the TV show Once Upon a Time, which is the regular occupant of ABC's 8pm Sunday timeslot, as confirmed by showrunner Kat Likkel.[10] The Enchanted Forest is one of the main settings of Once Upon a Time, particularly during its flashback sequences. Richard first refers to the Queen as an "Evil Queen", which is a title shared by one of the main characters on Once Upon a Time.
